Luxury Scotland “British Open" Golf Vacation

Sample Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrive Glasgow or Edinburgh, Scotland. Drive to St Andrews and check into your luxurious golf vacation accommodation and historic Old Course Hotel (the request for ballot entry to play St Andrews has been arranged by the hotel). The rest of the day is yours to enjoy as you deem fit, a suggestion may be to tour the quaint town of St Andrews, visit the beach or perhaps visit the St Andrews Golf Museum. Overnight at the Old Course Hotel.

Day 2 :

Today you will play the famous Old Course at St Andrews Scotland . Regarded as the birthplace of golf, this historic test has hosted numerous British Opens, with such winners as Nicklaus and Ballesteros. Although the course contains wide fairways and has little rough, the winds can create a demanding game. Home of the 2005 British Open, this course will be a most memorable experience. Non-golfers may wish to continue to explore St Andrews or visit the beach. Overnight at the Old Course Hotel.

Day 3 :

Play today will be arranged at the St Andrews Jubilee course. This extremely challenging course is longer and considerable narrower than the Old, and considered more difficult. The greens are small, and a 2 putt is an achievement. The course also contains more devastating rough and is more affected by the ocean wind. A true test of golf. Non-golfers may wish to visit Glamis Castle. Overnight at the Old Course Hotel.

Day 4 :

Carnoustie awaits all challengers today. Considered the most difficult of all British Open golf courses, this historic course has recognized many past British Open winners, including Ben Hogan, Tom Watson and Gary Player. This difficult course has hosted 6 British Opens, with the last in 1999. The length and severely undulating greens has proven to be a stern golf challenge. After golf, drive to Edinburgh , and continue North to the lovely seaside town of Gullane Scotland . Non-golfers may wish to visit Hopetoun House. Overnight at the luxurious Greywalls Hotel.

Day 5 :

This afternoon’s game will be played at Gullane #1. This course has provided many a test for golfers attempting to qualify for the British Open, particularly when the event is played at neighboring Muirfield. As much of the course is set on bluffs, the views of the Firth of Forth are awe inspiring, and the surrounding countryside striking.. This challenging course is hilly in nature, and the narrow fairways are as challenging as any other qualifying British Open course. The greens are renowned for their speed and undulations. Non-golfers may wish to visit Edinburgh. Overnight at the luxurious Greywalls Hotel.

Day 6 :

North Berwick is scheduled to host your party today. A challenging links course, the layout includes stone walls from the early 1800’s that tries a golfers patience due to the resulting blind shots to many greens. The course is located in the center of the town of North Berwick Scotland , and especially affected by the winds swirling off of the scenic bay. Ball placement is at a premium at this lovely and stoic ancient golf course. Non-golfers may wish to visit the Borders. Overnight at the luxurious Greywalls Hotel.

Day 7 :

Golf today will be at Dunbar . Another seaside links golf course, this property combines many of the qualities of North Berwick and Gullane #1. The course contains 6 holes that front the ocean, and the course length requires long shot making to fast greens. The striking view of St Abb’s Head can cause a golfer to forget the test at hand. Upon completion of your round of golf, leave for the airport or extend your trip with additional golf arranged by our staff.
